Follow related website bookmark from Reddit: Reasons why, as a very new NASCAR fan, I enjoy rooting for Danica Patrick, even though a lot of people have reasons for disliking her. 1) I knew who she was before I followed NASCAR. (i.e. I've bought a few domains through GoDaddy over the years.) So I feel like there is some continuity in rooting for her, and not like I just picked a driver at random who I really don't care about.
2) Because of the media's obsession with her, I don't have to be too much of a NASCAR geek to get info on her racing. (Since I'm a NASCAR n00b, this is helpful.) With hockey and baseball, I have my geeky podcasts and trusted info sources that I've yet to find for NASCAR.
3) She's not the best driver out there. It would feel lame to me to start following NASCAR (or any sport) and start rooting for one of the top drivers, and be all, "Yay, my driver won again. Wooo!" I always like rooting for an underdog. more

You do not own the road, pay attention to what's going on around u when u drive. A car can kill someone... Just cause Danica Patrick can drive really fast doesnt mean y'all can..
