[Rare purple agate](http://i.imgur.com/XX197.jpg) from the side of the road by the Calapooya River near Holley, Oregon. All collected, tumbled and polished by yours truly.

[Chabazite from the Calapooya River area](http://i.imgur.com/I0dLf.jpg) near Holley, Oregon. [One piece I found has another mineral called gmelinite on it](http://i.imgur.com/jaMIX.jpg) along with the chabazite. Both are rare to find in [large pockets](http://i.imgur.com/GGDfU.jpg) or with crystals larger than about 1/4". Some of [these pieces](http://i.imgur.com/i8uWC.jpg) are going to the [Rice NW Mineral Museum.](http://www.ricenorthwestmuseum.org/) I've already spoken to Rudy Tschernich ([discoverer of tschernichite](http://www.mindat.org/gallery.php?cform_is_valid=1&loc=4060&cf_pager_page=63)), the curator of the museum, and he's expressed interest in looking at what I found and putting it in the public display for the NW Minerals zeolites section of the museum. Woohoo!

[Pink agate from Eastern Oregon](http://i.imgur.com/jh0st.jpg) My brothers and I picked up while on a deer hunting trip. Very nice stuff, can't wait to go back this year and get more!

[Bowling-ball sized chunk of multi-colored jasper](http://i.imgur.com/u96jB.jpg) collected while gold panning on Quartzville Creek near Greenpeter Reservoir outside Sweet Home, Oregon. Only one little red edge was poking out of the gravel and rock surrounding it and it took me about half an hour to dig it out.

[Calapooya moss/plume agate](http://i.imgur.com/agoq3.jpg) I discovered while rockhounding up the mountain on a logging road far from the river. I have about 50 lbs total. [Here's a piece](http://i.imgur.com/4HHcW.jpg) I cut a slab off of. I even made a [cabochon and set it in a cinch-mount setting](http://i.imgur.com/fH1H2.jpg) for my mom.

[Skeletal quartz crystal flowers/clusters](http://i.imgur.com/V0c0m.jpg) from directly below the same place the Calapooya moss/plume agate came from. What can I say, minerals are [effing mysterious!](http://i.imgur.com/DVPn1.jpg) I had to [boil these with oxalic acid in a crock-pot](http://i.imgur.com/3jf98.jpg) for a few days to get rid of iron and manganese staining. Unfortunately, sometimes that also removes some of the red and violet color (iron impurities) that sometimes [pops out of these](http://i.imgur.com/u6ZVs.jpg) crystals, but luckily a good bit of color remains in the ones I've collected and treated.

A nice [drusy quartz geode/cavity with a single tiny dogtooth calcite crystal](http://i.imgur.com/5eUwh.jpg) I found at the Wind Creek quarry outside of Buell, Oregon. The bumpy bits of quartz inside are likely encrustation pseudomorphs. This was laying on the ground, face down. I happened to kick it over and discovered this beautiful piece!

I found this [quartz encrustation pseudomorph](http://i.imgur.com/rjzAF.jpg) (the small quartz crystals grew over the top of a cubic crystal of calcite!) in the same Wind Creek area, but in the middle of a logging road! WTF, they gravel their roads with beautiful quartz specimens?? Yup. I've found a lot of good material this way.
