I'm going to ask a friend out. Could you guys answer a few questions to help me in my case?
Hi, Reddit. I'm 16 years old and I live in Brazil. I am writing this in an attempt to receive some dating advice form total strangers on the internet. This sounded like a much better plan when i first thought about this... Here's the deal: I have not had any experience with this sort of thing. The only time I had a "girlfriend" was when I was about 7 years old. I somehow got into a "relationship" with a girl I barely knew, and since I was too occupied pretending to be a Pokemon trainer with my friends, she broke up with me. That was when I realized I was dating someone. I had not talked to her up until it was finished. Needless to say, this situation didn't help me build any experience at all. For the past few years, although I was attracted to women in general (boobies!), I never really found a girl I wanted to date. I think Pink Floyd's song Young Lust is a good representation of what I mean. Every girl with an average body seemed like the ideal mating partner. I saw the pretty girls as objects of desire, a highly estimated commodity. I am ashamed of myself Reddit. Since last year, things started to change. Sure, the girls were still hot, but I met some really nice and caring girls. The ones that were my friends felt really important to me. I think that all these years, I have been expecting too much. I just hoped that magically a porn star or an Asian school girl would fall from the sky right into my arms. I was a dumb teenager acting like a dog in mating season. I never considered that one of the girls who were my friends could be the girl I've been looking for. All the girls I used to think were perfect now seem futile and somehow give me the fell that they are made of plastic, there is no emotion in them when I look with different eyes. I think I finally understood why it is necessary to say you are sexually attracted to someone and not just attracted. This year, I met ________ (I don't know if she would like if I put her name here). She's the best friend I've ever had that's not a boy. I feel like I can talk to her. I feel like I can just look at her in a certain way and she will understand what I'm trying to say. We can talk about anything at all and we never really had a fight. When things got hairy, we would just shut up, count to 5 and forget about it. She is just the way I like, she's caring, shy but sweet, understanding and she is a good listener and knows how to keep a conversation like no one. I decided I want to go to the next level. I want to have something more with her. But I don't think I'm ready for it yet. I decided I am going to ask her out. I thought about this for a long time. I wasn't sure at first if this was the right thing to do because I was afraid that I could lose a really good friend but looking at it right now, I'm pretty sure that even if it doesn't work out, it would have been worth it. I did a little homework about her by asking common friends things I didn't have the guts to ask directly or that I am pretty sure she wouldn't answer. I found out a few things in my favor. We are both kiss-less virgins who never dated before so I think she doesn't know for sure what to expect. I think I have the benefit of the doubt. She does not have a special someone she wants to be with for her whole life, according to her best friends. She simply likes someone but she won't say who. I'm hoping she is hiding who it is, if it is me, because she has that common fear of hurting the friendship. If it is not me... Well, I guess I will never know if I don't try and see what could happen. I'll admit it, Reddit, I'm not sure if this is love. I think I'm too young to know for sure. I want to be with her, but the mere word relation gives me the shivers. I'm afraid, but I think it's time to go trough this fear. She's worth it. Here's what I have planned so far: I'm going to call her. I know that girls prefer to be asked personally but we don't have class anymore and it would be hard to meet her face face. I suppose that by phone would be the next "most personal way". I was thinking of taking her to the movies. Here The Muppets has just hit the theaters and I'm sure she would love to see that movie. I was thinking of getting some ice cream afterwards and then I would try to say what's on my mind (I'll try to be as subtle as possible, I don't want to scare her). **tl;dr:** First date, none of us have experience and I'm trying to prepare myself for a good impression. Here are my questions: 1. Although my initial plan is to call her, I'm afraid that her dad or mother could answer the phone instead of her. What should I do if this happens? 2. I think I will get too nervous when it comes to talk to her about going out. How should I handle the proposition? Go straight to the point? Ask Indirectly? 3. What should I wear to the date? Wouldn't dress too casual give the wrong impression that I don't really care? But if I overdo, wouldn't that be a problem as well? 4. I think I want to give the idea that I'm still uncertain about any type of serious relation, and I'm pretty sure she feels the same way. How can I show her I'm not mature enough for that yet without sounding uninterested in her? I feel like i should be honest with her so we're off to a good start. 5. Should I pay everything for her, offer myself to pay everything, offer to pay the first time and stop offering if she refuses, or just don't offer at all? 6. Are there any rules I should not break? Things that women generally disapprove or any common mistakes men usually do? 7. How can I know if I'm doing well? 8. My male friends said I should try to cautiously break the touch barrier. I don't think she would like it though. How can I know what to do? 9. Any ways to boost my chances? Simple things to improve my looks or maybe gestures that will help me out? 10. How do dates normally end? I mean, how can i know that she wants to leave? Will she tell me? What should I do when it ends, walk her to daddy's car? This sounds really wimpy... 11. How can I control the conversation to know how she feels? I think it's a really bad idea to ask... 12. How should I arrange another date if I'm successful? My friends told me something about a time window. 12. In case this goes well, other dates happen, and a kiss comes, what should i do?!
