Breaking News: Parole2012/05/22 Traveling under advance parole is no longer a departure - us immigration solutions
Follow related website bookmark from Reddit: My friend was mugged on Thanksgiving. She found the thief's name, address, and phone number, but the police aren't doing anything. Now what? **Please read edit #5 for an important correction.** The thief lives just a few blocks away from her. He's been creating accounts on various online services under his name and her CC, using a consistent set of contact information. The police are either too busy or too ignorant to help her. What can my friend do to get the thief behind bars where he belongs? **Edit 1**: In case the state matters, this happened in Illinois. **Edit 2**: My friend's credit card has long since been cancelled. She's not worried about loss of funds, just trying to figure out how to convince her police department to arrest a mugger. I'm not sure how useful her CC's fraud department will be at this point. **Edit 3**: Thanks for all the (often hilarious!) suggestions, Reddit! I've forwarded my friend this thread, and she's very excited by some of your ideas. My favorites so far are contacting the DA and the local paper. Keep 'em coming! **Edit 5, important corrections and update**: I was wrong about some of the earlier details. On December 16th, someone tried to open a new credit card under my friend's name and SSN, but a different address/phone number/email. Yesterday, she received word that someone tried to cash a check made out to a name matching the email used to open the credit card. This information matches a woman who is currently on parole for check fraud, **not** the mugger. The detective assigned to my friend's case is hopeful that this woman will lead them to the mugger. My friend will contact the bank where the fraud was attempted tomorrow. more Related parole videos 2012-05-22:
