Look, I'm not a big Palin supporter, but what she said is that Revere warned the British. What Paul Revere wrote - and is undisputed by historians - is that when was captured (during the midnight ride) he told the British that the American's were waiting for him.
Palin said that Paul Revere told the British that the Americans were waiting because he warned them by riding through town on his horse shooting guns and ringing bells. Now she was wrong about Revere using bells and guns - his mission was a secret. However that night the townspeople used bells and guns to spread the word to nearby towns, which is well documented. So if Revere spread the word to the people, who then used bells and guns, couldn't you say that the bells and guns were part of the warning system? Which he initiated? That's not really the main issue though, the main issue is whether or not he warned the British. Since we have Revere's own account of warning the British, the liberal media has a problem - she was right. Instead of admitting its (their?) mistake, they spun to claim that "he didn't *warn* the British, he only *told* them. That's really what pisses me off, that they debate the meaning of the word 'warn', and still try to claim that he didn't warn them.
As I said, I'm not a huge Palin supporter, and I think she is a god awful public speaker, but I just have to speak up here. It's expected from the media to stretch and spin every word Palin says, but I expected more from a self-proclaimed rational community here at Reddit.
The most ridiculous thing I've seen here is people saying that she was 'lucky'. Lucky? Really? You just can't possibly accept that she got something right that you have to claim she accidentally said a fact that most Americans don't know? That's just sad. If you want to debate Sarah Palin, why can't you find something that she actually got wrong?
