...But what we discovered was much more exacting: The movie time was 7:50PM Central Standard Time. Given previews, the movie actually started at 8:05PM CST. The precise centennial of the iceberg collision was at 8:40PM Central Standard Time (11:40PM over the North Atlantic).
This not only meant that the entire centurial anniversary of the sinking of Titanic occurred during our movie, but because the ship took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink, our movie ended exactly 100 years [to the minute!] after the ship disappeared beneath the flat calm of the North Atlantic Ocean.
On top of that, before the movie, we had visited the gravesite of two 1st Class Titanic Survivors at Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis - John and Nelle Pillsbury Snyder, who were young honeymooning newlyweds coming back from Europe on that fateful voyage. They are actually depicted in the movie as one of the first people to board the life boats, as in real life. more
