Atlanta: 2012 Atlanta Jazz Festival Memorial Day Weekend @ Piedmont Park
The Atlanta Jazz Festival is regarded as one of the Country?s largest FREE jazz festivals. It is an annual musical showcase, celebrates jazz legends and up-and-coming jazz greats in venues throughout metropolitan Atlanta during the entire month of May. Culminating during each Memorial Day weekend, the festival features show-stopping performances at Piedmont Park.
There are several activities that are designed for children 10 and under; there are face painters and balloon art next to the playground near the international stage. The Festival is produced by the City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs, and it is FREE and open to the public.

Okay, I am sending out a request. Many of you already know about our tournament but for those who don't, my daughter's team host the Pitch for the Cure softball tournament in June. This will be the 7th annual. Since creating and presenting the very first Pitch for the Cure in 2006, we've raised $130,000 for Susan. G. Komen for the Cure. Our event donates 20% of all profits plus some of our weekend activities bring in fundraising dollars that are donated 100% to Komen.
One of these activities is the Silent Auction.
Here is my request: if you or someone you know has items or services that you think would do well in the Silent Auction and you are willing to donate, please contact me by June 5. In the past we have auctioned off hotel stays, vacation packets, home decor, tools, original artwork, sport items, razorback items, etc.

I AM exhausted! The weekend can NOT come soon enough! Between this week and last week, I have had enough of the activities, field trips, etc. Great to have active kids but my mind just can't wrap itself around all of the things that I have to do to get ready for everything! When you visualize Native American culture and art, what do you see? Many people may envision stereotypical Native American images. However, the Eitel eum's Fellowship program is coonting this perception and proving that Native culture is alive and dynamic today -- beyond the romanticized or conventional views of traditional Native art forms. Beginning November 10, the Eitel eum of American Indians and Western Art will celebrate the 10th anniversary of its biennial Eitel eum Fellowship for Native American Fine Art. The fifth cycle of the initiative features an exhibition of artwork created by 2007 Fellows: Dana Claxton (Lakota), Gerald Clarke (Cahuilla), Larry McNeil (Tlingit/ Nisgaa), Sonya Kelliherbs (Inupiaq / Athabascan), William Wilson (Dine), and Distinguished Artist, James A. Luna (Luiseņo). The display includes more than 45 examples of contemporary, engaging and challenging photography, installation work, four-channel DVD, drawing, printmaking and painting. The eum is grateful for the gener and longstanding support of the Lilly Foundation that made this nationally renowned initiative possible. The 2007 Fellowship exhibition launches with opening weekendactivities, including a gala oni., Nov. 9, that celebrates 2007 Fellows and a day-long symposium of artists and scholars dissing issues related to contemporary Native art on Sat., Nov. 10.
